Pictures from the Maryland Renaissance Faire
September 29, 2002

Several of us from APL and my friend Kim got together to visit the annual Maryland Renaissance Faire. There were many great shows, including The Mud Show (no pictures here -- didn't want to get mud on the camera), The Squire on the Wire (witty and talented entertainer), and a jousting tournament. I particularly enjoyed the live demonstrations of glassblowing and coin minting, and at the weaponry shop, I got to hold a replica of Sting. The array of swords and daggers for sale was very impressive.

For lunch, Kim and I got some portabella mushroom sandwiches -- delicious! Later, we snacked on a very anachronistic and ridiculously large ice cream sundae. We closed out the evening with a show by the the Mediaeval Baebes -- a show not to be missed!

The Joust!
The knight in green (sorry, don't remember his name) proudly displaying his colors before our corner of the field.
The Joust!
Two knights engaged in the time-honored tradition of battering each other senseless with long sticks.

Just after the two knights collided at a gallop, this knight still has his lance.
